Our Story

The four XRATOR founders are engineers with in-depth experience on the offensive and defensive side of cyber-security. They all used to work for both large multinational companies and smaller structures, and two of them served in the French armed forces. They have been confronted within their own companies, through their clients, and at government level to cybercrime and cyber-warfare.

They saw how companies can be helpless when confronted with cyber-attacks and how cyber-defence processes are often not sufficiently automated. Convinced that “there must be a better way”, this brought them to start developing their own Cyber-Risk Quantification product in 2019 and eventually to create XRATOR in 2020.

XRATOR helps all companies, starting from Small and Mid-size Businesses to MNCs and governments, to evaluate their exposure to cyber-threats, decide how to apply the most cost-effective cyber-defense, and get covered by a cyber-insurance. Incorporated in Singapore and France, XRATOR serves Asian and European customers.

Beside being XRATOR’s CEO, François is first and foremost an offensive security expert. Before founding XRATOR, he started his career serving four years with the French Ministry of Armed Forces. He then joined cybersecurity consulting company SoftScheck in Singapore where he was elevated to the rank of Director and CTO to develop their portfolio of services.

Based in Singapore, François drives XRATOR’s global strategy, human capital and intellectual property management. He holds a Master’s Degree in Cryptology from University of Bordeaux, France, and a BSc. in Computer Science from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Canada.

In his free time, Francois likes inline skating, and being an authentic geek, tampering with computers.

Ronan is an entrepreneur who has the rare dual competence of being an Engineer and a Criminologist. Based in France, he is XRATOR’s Chief Product Officer, leading the company’s product lifecycle management and engineering.

Before XRATOR, Ronan had already set up his own cybersecurity consulting company, specializing in Natural Language Processing, Structured Language and Cyber Taxonomies. Prior to that, he worked as a cyber-threat intelligence researcher, analyst, and investigator at Kaspersky, Airbus, and the French Post.

Outside his business activities, Ronan teaches threat intelligence and cybersecurity leadership in several French universities. This includes managing the Cyber Security Strategy curriculum at prestigious ESSEC Business School.

Ronan is a Graduate Engineer from Telecom Bretagne and holds a Master’s in Criminology from Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers in Paris. He is also a competitive swimmer and a martial artist.

Frédéric’s career in the IT industry spans over three decades. His expertise runs the gamut from P&L management to people management, sales management, alliance & channel management, customer success, marketing and business development. Based in Singapore, he is the business face of XRATOR.

Before XRATOR, Frédéric was Vice President APAC of several US SaaS companies, such as ShoreTel and Everbridge. Prior to that, he led major business units at Orange, T-Systems and Logica. His work also led him to live in China, Taiwan, Malaysia and France.

Frédéric is a graduate engineer from ParisTech Arts & Métiers and holds a master’s in marketing from ESSEC Business School in Paris. In his free time, he is a Trade Advisor to the French government (CCEF) and a mentor to MBA students. He also likes to be defined as an 80’s post-punk rock expert, a Lego fan, and an Ironman 70.3 triathlete.

Nicolas started his career as an offensive security specialist with European aeronautic giant Airbus and the French Ministry of Armed Forces. He then switched to the defensive side to be the CSO of the Thai branch of leading insurer AXA. As a CSO, he specialized in transforming global security strategies from a vulnerability-based to a threat-based approach.

Nicolas’s understanding of cyber-security comes from both the company’s side and the attacker’s side. As XRATOR’s Chief Technology Officer, it gives him a dual perspective to define the company’s innovation policy and long-term vision. He is also in charge of all internal IT and Security matters.

Nicolas is a graduate engineer in computer science from Bordeaux INP Engineering School in France and holds a Certificate in computer engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal in Canada. Nicolas also recently confessed being an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego).
